Fixed Wire Testing
(EICR)

Fixed Wire Testing, also known as an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), is a full check of your building's electrical system.

It makes sure everything is safe, working as it should and meets current rules set by BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.

This is not just a routine check. It helps find faults, wear and safety risks before they become serious problems. It also keeps your business legally compliant.

What Does An EICR Cover?

An EICR looks at all fixed electrical parts in your building. This includes circuits, distribution boards, wiring and electrical accessories.

At TISS Electrical, our engineers carry out both visual checks and detailed testing to make sure everything is in good condition.

You will receive a clear report with simple codes:

  • C1 means there is immediate danger and it must be fixed right away.

  • C2 means there is a risk and it should be fixed as soon as possible.

  • C3 means improvement is advised but not urgent.

  • FI means further investigation is required.

We always follow up with a call to explain your report in simple terms so you know exactly what it means.

How Often Do You Need Fixed Wire Testing?

The frequency depends on your property type. Most commercial and industrial sites need testing every five years.

Rented homes also require an EICR every five years by law. Owner occupied homes are advised to have one every ten years.

Our engineers are based across the region and regularly carry out Fixed Wire Testing in areas including Colchester, Ipswich, Peterborough, Chelmsford and Cambridge. We also cover Bury St Edmunds, Harwich, Huntingdon, Braintree and Felixstowe, as well as Wisbech, Sudbury, Ely, St Neots and Brentwood.

What Happens During The Test?

We start with a visual inspection to check for damage, overheating or poor workmanship. We then carry out electrical tests such as insulation resistance, earthing and circuit checks.

Once complete, we provide a clear report and guidance on any next steps.

Remedial Work And Compliance

If faults are found, we can carry out all remedial work quickly and safely. This may include replacing damaged wiring, upgrading old equipment or improving earthing.

We keep everything simple. You get a clear plan, honest advice and updated records so you stay compliant and inspection ready.
